Masaaki was born on February 4, 1998 in Japan. He was born in a family of musicians, having professional musicians as parents and being related to Kosaku Yamada, one of the most famous composers in Japan. Koyo School of Music & Dance Alumni.
Masaaki started his musical training at the age of 3. Masaaki won a “Berklee Award” as an outstanding student at “Groove Camp 2015" in Hokkaido and then proceeded to the Berklee College of Music on a full tuition scholarship. Currently he continues his studies at Berklee as a Jazz Composition and Performance major and playing 200 gigs in the year outside of schools. In 2017 and 2019, Masaaki was selected to be a student ambassador of Berklee college of music and held 4 master classes in Japan. Also in 2017, his own quartet appeared on Japanese TV program.
In 2019, Masaaki joined the Album by Jesus Molina "Agape" with Mike Stern,Eric Marienthal, Antonio Sanchez, Randy Brecker
Currently He is joining Multi Grammy/Latin Grammy winning artist Noel Schajris's Lo Major Demi Tour.
Masaaki has performed with Billy Kilson, Kenny Werner, Jack Dejohnett, Darren Barrett, Leo Blanco, Luisito Quintero, Tiger Okoshi, Noel Schajris, Jesus Molina in the past.
